Port City Java Reports First Quarter Same Unit Sales Increase of 13.63%; Expand Food Offerings

WILMINGTON, N.C.-- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- April 14, 2005 -- Port City Java announces a 13.63% increase in sales volume for its corporate units for the first quarter ending March 31, 2005. The company is very pleased with the increase in same unit sales over the same period for 2005, and indicates the increase is due to its Fairganic™ Program and continued enhancement of its food/bakery offerings. The Fairganic™ program is a combination of Organic and Fair Trade Certified Coffees, and packaging and marketing to support the sales. The company has created a cohesive program to support the Fairganic™ sales, and create uniqueness for the company, within the Gourmet Coffee Segment.

Expanded Food Offerings

Port City Java announces it has developed an expanded line of wraps for its cafés, to compliment the Panini Grill offerings and present wraps. The Port City Java concept has integrated food into its menu since inception, with a Panini Grill menu and recently designed a " Grab and Go " program called " PCJ Lunch Box " Program. The " PCJ Lunch Box " program was designed for its units that experience a high velocity of lunch sales during peak meal periods. The new offerings are designed to offer variety in the food program and continue to stimulate sales. The company has identified the opportunity of serving gourmet type sandwiches, wraps, and salads, delivered in a quick/counter environment.
