April 21, 2010 (Wilmington, NC)—During National Volunteer Week (April 18th – 24th), Port City Java has invited local non-profits registered with the Cape Fear Volunteer Center to meet with café guests and promote their organizations and upcoming events. Port City Java’s goal is to introduce its guests and employees to various non-profits in the community while allowing organizations an opportunity to meet potential donors and volunteers.

Non-profits have registered for four hour blocks of time in various participating locations throughout Wilmington, NC. Depending on the location and time of day, organizations can expect to meet just a few new faces to several hundred. Non-profits registered to participate so far include the Full Belly Project, Big Buddy, Disabled Veterans Chapter # 11, Communities in Schools, Cape Fear River Watch, Cape Fear Literacy Council, Brigade Boys & Girls Club, Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Lifecare Center, Sunburst Foundation, Historic Wilmington Foundation, Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, Phoenix Employment Ministry and Vida Spring Health Rejuvenation Center.

National Volunteer Week is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities. Port City Java believes this is the perfect opportunity for organizations to share the national spotlight that National Volunteer Week deservedly receives. Simultaneously, organizations will be able to leverage this window to advance their individual causes and promote volunteer commitment in our community.
