Port City Java Opens New Unit; Enters New Market
WILMINGTON, N.C.-- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- May 12, 2005 -- Port City Java announces it will open a new café in Wilmington, NC on May 18th, 2005. The café, located at a main intersection adjacent to the regional hospital, shares restrooms and common parking with a new Quiznos Subs. The 800 sft unit is the smallest footprint the company has opened for a full service café. The unit has a drive through window, which will compensate for the limited seating. This will be the first unit operated by the company's Training & Support Department, headed by Michael Foster. Company COO Don Reynolds states " the company wanted an operating café designated as a manager training unit. We feel that training our managers in a prototype " live " unit by a member of our Training Department will enhance consistency in the program, and be a good follow up to training in our Training Lab ". Krystin Hausauer, who was promoted from the management of a Flagship cafe into the Training Department in 2004, will head up the Manager Training in the new café. The company feels this will greatly benefit Corporate and Franchise operations.
New Markets
The company announces it has signed deals to enter two new markets, Tallahassee, FL, and Detroit, MI. Port City Java units are presently under construction in Port St. Lucie and Valrico, Florida, and the company has four additional signed deals in Florida. The Michigan market is a new entry for the Brand. The company is excited to continue to build The Brand in Florida and expand into new urban markets. The company will concentrate on opening sufficient units in the new markets, to create significant Brand awareness and penetration.
