Port City Java Opens a New Cafré in Wilmington, NC; Design Enhancement
WILMINGTON, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE) -- May 26, 2006 -- Port City Java announces the opening of its newest café located at 4501 Main Street, Shallotte, Brunswick County, NC. Shallotte is located between Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC and is considered part of the Wilmington MSA. The café offers drive thru service, which the company believes enhances the opportunities for successful operations outside of urban and office park locations. Brunswick County was recently listed as the 27th fastest growing county in the US. It is the commercial center for nearby beach and retirement communities. The company is pleased to open its 3rd Café in Brunswick County, and its 20th location in the Wilmington, Myrtle Beach markets. This level of Brand penetration helps build guest awareness and build sales. The company plans another opening in the Myrtle Beach MSA in June 2006.
Design Enhancement
Management has spent significant resources in 2006 to determine areas of design enhancement to increase unit volumes. The company will be opening a unit in its home market of Wilmington, NC in July, which has new test design features. Steven Schnitzler, Director of Corp. Operations, worked with architect Dave Ports to make some ergonomic changes to increase speed of service, as well as some additional equipment, such as a 3rd register and 3rd espresso machine, to increase speed and volume. The company believes speed of superior service will enhance the guest experience and allow the cafés to serve additional satisfied guests. Management understands the importance of timely service, especially in the morning hours when the guests' time is most restricted.
