Port City Java Opens New Free Standing Café with Drive-Thru in Salisbury, NC; Drive-Thrus

WILMINGTON, N.C.-- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- June 23, 2005 -- Port City Java announces the opening of its newest café located in Salisbury, NC. The new unit is a free standing Café offering Drive Thru service and is located at 1804 W. Innes Street; Salisbury, NC. This is the first unit the company has opened in the Salisbury Market, and the company is very pleased with the initial market acceptance of the new café. The unit is owned by Michael and Cecelia Hughes of Salisbury. COO Don Reynolds states " Michael Hughes was chosen as a Franchisee because of his extensive experience in retail food management. If the site is in a suburban setting, or a roadside commuter location, the company puts a strong emphasis on the availability of Drive Thru service. Exceptions to this model include urban settings and office building settings, which have a more pedestrian or captive clientele. The company feels the added convenience of the Drive Thru is a major force in maximizing unit sales. The company opened its first Drive Thru unit in 2001 and has developed its Training Program and Operational Systems to fully support Drive Thru operations.
