September 21, 2009 (Raleigh, NC)—University Dining will open another Port City Java on September 23 in the newly renovated Park Shops building, which is located on NC State’s North Campus.
“This area of campus has been underserved for a long time,” said Kitty Lewis, retail operations manager for University Dining. “By adding a Port City Java here, we can provide coffee, smoothies, and Italian sodas in addition to an all-day food menu for students, faculty, and staff who live, work and/or study in this area of campus. We will be open all day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as in between.”
This will be the fifth and most spacious Port City Java location available on campus. Other locations include Engineering Building II on Centennial Campus, Nelson Hall, Textiles, and Carmichael Gym.
The space has arched windows and exposed brick walls, features found throughout the Park Shops building, which was built in 1914. The café will offer café tables, as well as conversational and counter seating.
Port City Java, a Wilmington-based company, features fresh-roasted coffees from all over the world, including their signature line of Fairganic® coffees, which are both Fair Trade certified and USDA certified organic. They also feature hot and iced espresso-based beverages, shakes, freezes, real-fruit smoothies and fresh pastries, as well as an all-day breakfast menu featuring breakfast wraps and sandwiches. Port City Java also offers lunch items including their signature sandwiches, wraps, and salads. Port City Java’s “Food for Thought” menu, which was originally designed especially for NC State students, faculty and staff, features a rotating line-up of food offerings to provide a wider selection over a month’s time and break the monotony.
The Port City Java at Park Shops will be open Monday-Thursday, 7:30am-8:00pm, Friday, 7:30am-5pm, and will be closed Saturday and Sunday.
Students will be able to use their meal-plan equivalency and Board Bucks, along with All Campus at the Port City Java in Park Shops, as well as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and cash.
