Port City Java and COVID-19

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to develop we have and will continue to evolve our response. Our first priority remains the safety and health of our staff, guests, and vendors. Here are the actions and responses we have taken. 

FOR OUR GUESTS: 

Port City Java has been deemed an essential business along with many other foodservice providers. We encourage contactless payment methods, such as our loyalty and rewards app, or payment over the phone. We welcome large orders for families and healthcare groups such as EMS teams and more. Order ahead is encouraged so that we can prepare your order and provide a quick and safe curbside pickup with limited contact. Our online store remains open providing 12-ounce coffee bags, retail mugs, and gift card purchases. Throughout these unusual circumstances, we strive to provide our guests the most updated information possible regarding our cafe hours and changes in service. The most updated hours are shown on our website, app, and Google listings. Visit our social media pages on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for more detailed updates.

We have also improved the way you order, offering the following services: ORDER AHEAD, CALL AHEAD, and DRIVE-THRU. Non-drive-thru locations such as Barclay Commons and Southport have a convenient, limited contact walk-up window.  
 

IN OUR CAFES: 

Beginning October 12, 2020, we will be reopening several of our dining rooms. 
We have set the following guidelines for anyone deciding to visit and we greatly appreciate your cooperation:

Masks covering the nose and mouth are required at all times unless at a table eating/drinking. We are happy to accommodate anyone unable to wear a mask through order ahead, call ahead or drive-thru service

We are operating at 25% capacity

Social distancing practices are required

If you are experiencing any symptoms, or have recently been exposed, please do not enter

Contactless payments are encouraged and appreciated (app or credit card payments)

 

We appreciate your patience and understanding. Here are some of the steps we've taken to maintain the safety of our team and guests: provided and required masks for all staff members, established a Barista Check-in Procedure prior to the start of any shift including temperature checks and symptoms questionnaire, continuing frequent hand washing, and glove wearing during food preparation. 
 

OUR ROASTERY: 

In our roastery we have ensured the integrity of our coffee, bagging, and production spaces as well as our equipment, parts, and supplies through increased sanitation procedures.
 

OUR TEAM MEMBERS: 

The health and safety of our team members remain top priority, in addition to the health and safety of our guests. We have implemented enhanced policies on illness reporting and travel transparency to prevent the spread amongst team members. Corporate staff are primarily working from home to support CDC recommendations of social distancing. We have established an emergency relief fund for team members who have been affected by reduced cafe hours, temporary closures, and other factors relating to COVID-19. We are doing everything we can to ensure none of our team members experience food or housing insecurity during this time. 


We pride ourselves on providing locally roasted and handcrafted coffee for the community and look forward to returning to our normal operations after the threat of COVID-19 has passed. We greatly appreciate our guests, staff, and community. Thank you for those who continue to support us during this time.
